An HVAC contractor told me, “Duct Cleaning is a scam, it is like cleaning fairy dust.” Fairy dust? You should see the mounds of dirt Mr. Duct Cleaner sucks out of the homes, schools, offices, restaurants, hospitals, nursing homes, dormitories, gymnasiums and just about every other type of building you can think of with an HVAC system.
That “fairy dust” is visible in the before pictures we take. It is visible in the vacuums and negative air equipment we use to clean your property. It is obvious when we have cleaned that fairy dust out of the ducts and the HVAC system itself. Our before and after pictures tell the tale. One person commented on a real picture of before and after that we posted on Facebook, “You have cheated, you have put a new duct picture up after replacing the old dirty duct.” Wow – we look so good someone has accused us of swapping out ducts in order to get customers.
Mr. Duct Cleaner is proud of our work. We take before and after pictures to show you we have cleaned the whole duct- not just the entry part. We know that the fairy dust is real. According to the AP News, dirty filters let dust, dander, allergens, and mold spores in. So do leaks around duct joints. In a typical six-room home, up to 40 pounds of dirt — including dangerous chemicals and other pollutants — is created annually through everyday living.
According to NADCA, through normal occupation in a home, we generate a lot of contaminants and air pollutants, such as dander, dust, and chemicals. These contaminants are pulled into the HVAC system and re-circulated 5 to 7 times per day, on average. Over time, this re-circulation causes a build-up of contaminants in the ductwork.
I would hate to visit that HVAC contractor’s home. Especially if it is older than three years. Imagine the “fairy dust” hanging around in his ducts. Yuck.
